The expansive venue houses a multitude of international brands including Dutch furniture producers Artifort, Bert Plantagie and Van Rossum. Artifort is displaying brand new pieces; Aloa, a collection of chairs and bar stools by Khodi Feiz, and Glider, a new relaxed armchair by Luca Nichetto. The brand also presents an update to the iconic 070 sofa series designed by Kho Liang le as part of this year’s Design London. Visitors can also expect new launches from bespoke Turkish furniture brand Fratelli, as well as esteemed Italian manufacturers Cinova, Natuzzi, Ethimo, TechnoGym and Artemide.

A highlight feature at this year’s event is a pavilion of Danish design brands curated by Lifestyle & Design Cluster and championed by the Danish Embassy, which offer solutions for positive environmental impact. This includes innovative uses of waste materials including furniture made from leftover stone masonry materials by product designer Camilla Holm Pallesen who spearheads Genfärd, a series of chairs by Wehlers primarily produced from 100% recycled plastic from fishing nets or other plastics found in the ocean, and FLID’s hand tools created from scrap wood and leather that are designed to be disassembled and reused. Denmark has long been known for its pioneering aesthetics, Design London is spotlighting the recent work of Danish design in the circular economy.

Alongside an array of international exhibitors sits a rise of homegrown talent. East London-based design practice Quirk & Rescue – who specialises in graphically patterned wallpapers and homeware pieces – has created a floor to ceiling installation of bold wallpaper designs. Christian Watson, a new name in British furniture design is presenting his minimal collection, which includes a range of statement pieces and functional designs that is unified by a pared-back palette of materials and an uncompromising commitment to British craftsmanship.

London-based industrial designer, Joe Slatter showcases Veil Stool, created out of over 4,000 waste disposable face masks collected from the streets of London during the coronavirus pandemic. On collection, the face masks were disinfected with ozone spray and quarantined in sunlight for four weeks. The stool was created on an experimental discovery that 3-ply face masks can be spun into a soft yarn as well as being melted into a dense polypropylene structure. &New, an  emerging British-Finnish design duo consisting of Mirka Grohn and Jo Wilton has also highlighted the practical use of waste materials as the duo showcase Jää, a new fully-recyclable collection made from consumer plastic diverted from landfill.

Design London is particularly excited to present the first exhibition of British fashion designer Henry Holland’s debut rug collection for East London rug makers FLOOR_STORY. The new series features a large-scale display at Design London and integrates bold patterns and classic rave iconography, including smiley faces and psychedelic-style patterns. The collection alludes to ‘out of mind’ experiences with irregular shaped runners which seem to melt into their surroundings. Holland has also created a playlist especially for the display during Design London, linked here.

London-based furniture brand SECOLO presents brand new Pingu and Laghi designs and despite never being launched physically before, the two works are the brand’s best sellers that boast an exquisite material palette and high gloss finish. These will be displayed alongside the curvaceous Tateyama Sofa in a configuration never-before-seen.

The iconic brand will also display new designs by Bjarke Ingels (BIG) and Neri&Hu. Bespoke sculptural lighting company Cameron Design House has created a spectacular installation with never-before-seen handmade chandelier, Kuulas, as well as debuting a new contemporary brand, Empty State. Haberdashery London celebrates its 10th birthday at Design London, as well as a permanent move to Greenwich where the studio has a workshop facility, and soon-to-open showroom. For the fair, Haberdashery has created an experiential installation of Flux, a sculptural composition of bespoke illuminated pendants.
